50 kilometers is how many miles

Why is cross-country skiing being featured in the preview for today? A couple of reasons: It's one of only two events today, and it features guys skiing 50 kilometers as fast as they can. That's a little over 31 miles, on skis. Pretty impressive. The medal favorites are Lukas Bauer of the Czech Republic, Maxim Vylegzhanin of Russia and Alexander Legkov of Russia.

Hockey: If you can go by the feeling on the streets here in Vancouver, the confidence of the entire country rides on today's gold-medal men's matchup between the U.S. and Canada. The two teams already have played once at these Games, with the U.S. winning 5-3. Look for a highly motivated Canadian team to hit the ice today, with a raucous crowd supporting then. If the U.S. can come weather the first period and come out of it tied or ahead, they may just be able to pull off another upset.

Closing Ceremony: The Games officially come to an end tonight with the closing ceremony. Many people are expecting an appearance by Celine Dion, representatives from Sochi, Japan, site of the 2014 Winter Games, will take part, and the betting lines here expect appearances from everyone from the aforementioned Dion and William Shatner to the more obscure Bret "the Hitman" Hart and Chris Jericho. Either way, expect a lot of dancing and singing as many of the athletes get one last moment in the spotlight before returning to the relative obscurity of their non-Olympic lives.
