Earthquake in Chile a tsunami warning for Hawaii

Following an earthquake in Chile a tsunami warning for Hawaii has also been issued by the Tsunami Pacific Warning Center. Updates on Chile reveal that at least 6 people lost their lives on Friday when the coastal areas were struck by magnitude 8.8 powerful earthquake.

Since the January 12 Haiti earthquake this year, this was the second worst earthquake recorded in the wee hours of Saturday morning causing substantial damages & killing as plenty of as one people so far. At 12:46 a.m. there was a tsunami warning was issued by the Pacific TWC that stated that a tsunami has been formed & is likely to cause sever damages along coastlines.

Hawaii islands are not the only areas in effect of the tsunami warning; Ecuador, Antarctica, Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru & a wide range of coastlines in Chile itself are issued the same warnings. It was anticipated that tsunami waves may reach these areas any time during the day on Saturday, according to the advisory issued earlier in the day.

All the Hawaii islands are under the threat of a tsunami thus the warning center emphasized on taking an urgent action since the lives of limitless people are in danger. The earthquake was felt at 8:34 p.m. according to Hawaiian time & the epicenter of the same was reported Chile’s coasts or nearby areas.

Michele Bachelet the President of Chile confirmed the death of at least one people & it is speculated that limitless people have received injuries though earlier; only a couple of people were reported sustained minor injuries. The President commented in a later statement that “the earthquake was a giant one & though we’re doing whatever they could, the citizens of the Chile are requested to remain calm.”

Following the sizable jolts, limitless power & phone lines were reported down thus it was hard to approach the agencies there in Chile where the buildings & houses were rocked. It's also been reported that the jolts were felt even in Argentina.

The President made this statement from an emergency response center, established in the capital of the country. Chile’s only second largest city known as Concepcion has been reported only 75 miles from the epicenter of Saturday’s terrifying earthquake.
